Les Rivières (The Rivers) is an intimate journey into my matriarchal family story. This filmic experience is the vehicle that enables my soul to fly to yours. It took me 6 years to accomplish this family archeology. The whole project is totally handmade; it has been crowd-funded by a benevolent community who follow my blog maihua.fr/en, some for almost a decade. Mai Hua, French-Vietnamese single mom with two children, brings back her dying grandmother to France. As the old woman miraculously recovers, questions are raised within the family history, in particular a curse on the women of the family, revealing an intimate archeology of female lineage and universal quest for truth.

During my public screenings, I could see how Les Rivières raised many questions. Also, to thank you for supporting the project with your purchase, I have designed a booklet to allow you to continue your journey.
The writer Mona Chollet, actress Ludivine Sagnier, feminist activist Lauren Bastide… 10 personalities whom I love immensely have seen and loved Les Rivières. They honored me by asking their personal question so that I can answer it for you in this booklet.
You will also find there “psycho-magic” exercises to realize yourself, advised by myself and Jerry Hyde, my companion, who is a humanistic therapist based in London.

Color Designer (Louis Vuitton, Issey Miyake, Giorgio Armani), Director and Author of the philosophical blog maihua.fr/en, Mai explores our links to the intimate, the quest for truth and spirituality. Her 2 documentaries, LES RIVIÈRES, a family archeology about her line of women, and MEETINGS WITH REMARKABLE MEN, proposing new models of masculinity in connection with therapy and vulnerability, explore these notions with contemporary intensity and dazzling emotional intelligence. Mai is currently working on writing of her first book, with French editions L’Iconoclaste.
